NeuroAesthetic Resonance
2021
NeuroAesthetic Resonance is a project that explores the connection between our brains and our subjective aesthetic experience. The project uses resonance as a frame to compare the two, with the goal of understanding what happens in our brains during powerful aesthetic experiences.
The project culminates in an art-science experience where participant brain data (EEG) and is correlated with real-time aesthetic ratings. This data supports a personalized audiovisual experience that uses a cybernetic loop to optimize neural and aesthetic resonance. The system demonstrates new ways of designing audiovisual experiences based on brain data and AI optimization.
The project was created by Caiseal Beardow and under the supervision of Elif Ozcan Vieira and myself in the scope of her Master’s thesis at Delft University of Technology.
